A magical ecosystem created by humans. Nature, beautiful routes, and good food in a destination of unique beauty.
We depart from our offices at Larissa Station on 25/01/2025, Saturday morning at 07:30, making an intermediate stop before reaching our first destination, Koroni Monastery, located on the eastern side of Plastiras Lake. About 22 kilometers from the dam and at an altitude of approximately 800 meters, the Monastery of Panagia Korona has stood for centuries. The monastery takes its name from its location, as it crowns the fertile Thessalian plain like a corona (crown).
A beloved mountain destination for all, Plastiras Lake sits at an altitude of 750 meters in the southwestern part of Karditsa Prefecture. Surrounded by 18 beautiful and picturesque villages, it offers a well-developed tourist infrastructure.
After our visit to the monastery, we will head to Neochori, where we will settle in at HOTEL RESORT NAIADES. Neochori is a village spread across the hillside, featuring multiple “mahalades” (neighborhoods) and breathtaking views of the lake. It is 37 kilometers from Karditsa, at an altitude of 900-1050 meters. The Neochori Botanical Garden, open daily to visitors, showcases shrublands, local ecosystems, nurseries with linden and fir trees, wetlands, aromatic and ornamental plants. Everyone is free to choose how they want to spend their time—whether strolling through the village’s narrow streets, exploring the garden, or simply relaxing in the delightful spaces of the hotel. In the morning, we will enjoy breakfast at the hotel before starting our day with a visit to the Plastiras Dam, admiring this magnificent human-made wonder.
Afterwards, we will descend to the city center of Karditsa for another exceptional walk through Pausilypo Park. Capture photos with the peacocks behind the refreshment kiosk and indulge in the local delicacies at the taverns and ouzeries surrounding the park.
